Hauser Kaibling Startplatz 3

Hauser Kaibling Startplatz 3 is a west-facing grass launch on the shoulder of the Hauser Kaibling in Styria, at roughly 1,982 m southeast below the summit, with views across to the Dachstein. The mountain offers launch options facing nearly every wind direction, which is what makes it an interesting hill to fly, and conditions work beyond summer as well as during it — this particular launch favors southwest, west and northwest wind. Access to the flying area is run under an exclusive lease held by a local flying school, covering both its own training operation and its club members, so independent visiting pilots should expect to fly here through that school rather than showing up unannounced. The landing is an elongated, gently angled meadow shaped to match the valley's wind system, reached below the mountain. A scenic, well-set-up mountain site, but one where access runs through an established local operation rather than being open to all comers.
