Frequently asked questions

Why does OutDare need my location?

To show paragliding spots near you and to centre the map. Location is only requested while the app is open — never in the background. You can deny the permission and the app continues to work, but you'll need to search by name or pan the map manually.

Why didn't I get an alert when conditions matched?

Alerts run every six hours and depend on weather forecasts being available for the spot. Common causes: notifications disabled at the OS level, the app reinstalled (which resets the push token), or the forecast window not yet in range. Check Settings → Notifications inside OutDare to confirm alerts are enabled.

Why does the app say a spot is flyable when conditions look marginal?

Flyability is calculated from your saved wind range, gust ratio, and other parameters — not from a universal “good day” definition. If a spot looks marginal to you despite a green verdict, tighten your alert thresholds in Settings.

How do I delete my account?

In the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. Or email contact@outdare.app from the address tied to your account. We delete your data within 30 days; see the Privacy Policy for details.

Is there a web version?

Yes — a companion web app lives at fly.outdare.app. It mirrors the map and spot info; the flight recorder, live tracking and push alerts are mobile-only, so the iOS and Android apps remain the full experience.

Does OutDare record my flights?

Yes. The built-in flight recorder logs GPS and barometric altitude with an audio vario, thermal assist and wind estimation, and saves every flight to a crash-safe on-device logbook. You can optionally share a flight live with your friends; live tracking stops the moment you land or end it. Nothing is shared unless you choose to.

How do I add or correct a spot?

Use the “Submit a spot” flow inside the app, or tap any spot and propose an edit (name, position, wind directions, site notes). There is no central gatekeeper: low-risk corrections from trusted contributors apply right away, and sensitive changes go live once two other pilots confirm them.

Can I use OutDare for sports other than paragliding?

The current release is focused on paragliding. We plan to extend OutDare to other outdoor sports — drop us a line if there's a sport you'd like us to cover.
