Where it is
Spieljoch Startplatz 2 is the first flying site at the entrance to the Zillertal valley in Tyrol, Austria, with a take-off at 2,047 m working on a south-east wind. The launch sits below the Onkeljoch mountain station, on the mountain-railway side of the site, and the landing is a gently sloping meadow directly below the valley station — so, like a number of Austria's lift-served sites, the whole flight bookends a mountain railway rather than a long carry or hike. Being the first proper flying area as you enter the Zillertal makes it a natural stop for pilots working their way up the valley, and the railway access on both ends keeps logistics simple: no shuttle to arrange, no car to leave at the bottom.
Launch & conditions
The launch works on a south-east wind and sits below the Onkeljoch mountain station.
Getting there & local rules
Mountain railway on both ends: launch near the top (Onkeljoch) station, landing on a gently sloping meadow right below the valley station.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Spieljoch Startplatz 2, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Spieljoch Startplatz 2 with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
