Where it is
Alter Steinbruch near Lindenfels is a demanding launch at about 520 m facing south to southwest, where a road has to be cleared with real height on departure and pilots are expected to leave in good time; a weekend shuttle bus runs between the landing field and launch. Every pilot needs an extensive briefing from the site holder before flying here — A-license pilots specifically have to demonstrate sufficient experience to the site holder first, and tandem flights are reserved for very experienced pilots flying in good conditions. Launches only happen with a proper headwind (never in no-wind or tailwind, and never crosswind), flight ops end at 19:00, and the road below must be cleared by at least 50 m. Training flights are only run for students who already have at least 30 logged altitude flights elsewhere, always with an instructor and an assistant present at both launch and landing, in laminar wind only. There's a dedicated paraglider-only emergency landing field near a grill hut nearby, but it's a genuinely demanding approach and stays marked with a windsock and kept clear of obstacles; hang gliders instead use a separate set of fields north of the neighbouring village.
