Where it is
Düllstadt is a winch and aerotow flatland site near Kitzingen in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, launching from 210 m on wind from the east or west. This is one of the most tightly wildlife-regulated tow sites in the database: flying is capped at just 20 days a year for general animal protection, and every season the area around the tow line has to be checked for protected species before towing starts. Flight paths are chosen to avoid the marked conservation zones nearby, overflown only rarely and at real height, especially during the breeding season, and pilots give any raptors in the air as much room as possible. Towing stops entirely on a northerly crosswind because of a solar installation to the south, and the east-wind launch point gets turbulent on a southerly crosswind from stone mounds beside the tow line — launches there happen only in direct headwind, checked with a second wind indicator set up on the stones themselves.
Launch & conditions
Towing is off entirely on a northerly crosswind component because of a nearby solar installation, and at the east-wind launch point, launch only in direct headwind — a wind indicator on the stone mound beside the strip helps confirm the true wind before you go.
Local rules & hazards
Flying here is capped at 20 days a year for wildlife protection, with the tow-line surroundings surveyed for protected species before each season starts. Overflight of the marked conservation areas is avoided except rarely and at height, especially in breeding season, and pilots leave immediately if lapwings are clearly present or raptors are nearby; outlandings inside any nature or bird reserve are not permitted.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Düllstadt, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Düllstadt with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
