Where it is
Hohenmirsberg is a flatland paragliding site in Germany that's been actively run by a local paragliding club for many years, sitting at around 550 m and open to visiting pilots. Winch-towing happens regularly here, and unusually it works in every wind direction, not just one or two — a genuine advantage over most flatland sites, which are typically limited to a narrow window. The tow gets pilots to a good starting altitude for reaching thermals, and cross-country flying is a regular occurrence rather than an exception, with pilots routinely heading out on longer flights once they're up. Guest pilots are explicitly welcome, so this isn't a members-only field like some winch sites nearby. No separate landing field is on record, so landing happens back on the same flatland area used for launch. For a flatland site, the combination of all-direction towing, welcoming guest policy and regular cross-country activity makes Hohenmirsberg a genuinely useful stop rather than just a local training field.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Hohenmirsberg, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Hohenmirsberg with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
