Hörnle – Dürrenzimmern

Hörnle – Dürrenzimmern is a south/southeast-facing launch in Baden-Württemberg at around 319 m, used for both free flying and instruction. Top-landing back at the launch is restricted to experienced pilots and only in turbulence-free conditions, with landings kept strictly inside the marked area so nobody on the hill is put at risk. Training flights run only in light southerly wind, and an instructor or assistant instructor has to be present at both the launch and the landing throughout, with students needing a minimum number of height flights at other sites before starting here. Getting to the launch means sharing a public hiking car park at the Gasthaus Hörnle inn, which pilots are asked not to fill entirely with their own vehicles — carpooling or walking up is the expected approach so hikers can still park. Departures toward the landing should be timed with enough altitude in hand to make it comfortably.
