Where it is
Moos launches from 825 m in Germany on north, west and northwest winds, with a couple of firm ground rules that shape how you approach it. Access to the launch has to come from the west side — that's the only approved way in. Once airborne, flying east into the capercaillie protection zone is explicitly off-limits, so plan your line to stay clear of that direction regardless of how tempting the terrain looks. Vehicles aren't allowed up at the launch at all; park in the public lot at the forest entrance and walk in, with the only exception being maintenance access on weekdays for the people who look after the site. Between the westside-only approach, the protected airspace to the east and the no-vehicle rule, Moos is a site that rewards pilots who do their homework on access before showing up.
Getting there & local rules
Access to the launch is only from the west. No vehicles are allowed up to launch — park in the public lot at the forest entrance and walk in.
Local rules & hazards
Flying east into the capercaillie protection zone is not permitted — plan your line to stay clear of that direction.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Moos, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Moos with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
