Where it is
This is the north–south tow line at the winch-tow site below the Halde Norddeutschland spoil heap, at roughly 33 m — flat, open terrain that makes the wider site a good entry point into thermal flying. Step-towing, a two-stage tow technique meeting DHV requirements, is only permitted on this north–south line, not the site's other east–west line. Because the tow line runs alongside field paths, tow operations stop the moment vehicles or people approach the launch area or the paths nearby, and the tow line must never be flown over those field paths or the adjacent drainage ditch while it's still attached to the glider. A launch marshal is designated for every flying day to enforce the site's permit conditions, and the whole operation runs under landscape-protection exemptions granted by the local district.
