Where it is

Sieseler Alm is a north/northeast-facing launch at about 442 m in the Sauerland, above the Lenne river valley — flying here only happens by prior arrangement with the site operator, and the launch itself is small and steep enough that it's suitable only for pilots with real experience on that kind of terrain. Launching needs a proper headwind of around 10 km/h, and a briefing is required before your first flight here. The river shapes most of the local rules: the landing pattern must keep sufficient horizontal and vertical distance from the Lenne at every stage, the nature reserve along the river may not be overflown low, final approach must come in from the north, and the river itself must not be crossed during the base leg. Vehicles stay on public parking areas — forest tracks are off-limits to driving except with municipal or forestry permission — so plan to reach the launch and landing areas on foot.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Sieseler Alm, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Sieseler Alm with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
