Tiertalberg

Tiertalberg is a paragliding site in Germany at 277 m, launching on south-west wind, with a bird-protection zone (an eagle-owl breeding area) sitting right next to the launch. Overflight height near it has to stay at least 100 m above the terrain, and the marked protection zone — the terrain notch below the Winzerhütte and the next notch to the north-west, up to the first rock spur visible from the air — is off-limits to flying below that height at all, with extra care expected during the breeding season from January to July. Flights west along the ridge edge are only allowed as far as the start of that zone. Every pilot needs a briefing on the site's conditions before their first flight here, and the site keeps a flight log (date, pilot numbers, anything unusual) to track activity. Launch areas are reached only on foot, on the existing paths.

The bird-protection zone next to the launch — covering the terrain notch below the Winzerhütte and the next notch to the north-west — must be overflown at least 100 m above the terrain, with extra caution during the January–July breeding season; flights along the western ridge edge stop at the start of that zone. Carry an altimeter, and get briefed on the site's conditions before your first flight.
