Wernsbacher Weg Süd

Wernsbacher Weg Süd is a winch-tow site at about 435 m, set up for tows toward the north and northeast, on flat open ground. For mobile-winch towing, the tow vehicle has to be positioned so it keeps visual contact with the launch point throughout. Whenever towing is underway, the deploy/launch area and the landing area both have to be cordoned off against unauthorised access, and every path leading into the site needs the same protection. Minimum safety heights and clearances from buildings, roads, railway lines and power lines apply throughout every flight, under the site's flight-operating regulations and German air law. Pilots also need to make sure the tow line never contacts obstacles along its path. Because the site sits close to the military airfield at Ansbach-Katterbach, flight operations here must be coordinated with air traffic control there before any towing begins, and with the operating club and site holder as well.
