Weyhers Übungshang

Weyhers Übungshang is a small training slope in the Rhön hills near the Wasserkuppe, with about 45 m of height difference and a north-facing launch at roughly 420 m. It's a beginner practice hill rather than a free-flying site: use is limited to organized instruction sessions, capped at no more than ten days a year, and each session runs with an instructor present for about four hours. There's no casual, independent flying here. Before training can start, a ground ridge running across the width of the launch — left over from an old boundary between meadow and field — has to be leveled off in the takeoff area. The landing lies close to the L3258 road below, so pilots keep a solid safety margin from traffic, and students and instructors are asked to park at the field track at the foot of the hill rather than nearer the launch. It's a controlled, supervised environment built specifically for early training rather than a site to visit on your own.
