Winnberg

Winnberg is a winch-tow site at about 485 m, open to tows in both easterly and westerly directions, and hang glider pilots are explicitly welcome here alongside paragliders. Just west of the launch there's a quarry and a section of ridge edge that must never be overflown below 1,000 m above the ground, as a precaution for nesting birds of prey — every pilot needs to carry an altimeter to respect that limit. For noise reasons, the winch may only run during the actual tow itself, and unnecessary engine noise should be avoided at other times. Only the vehicles actually needed for winch operations — the winch vehicle, trailer and cable retriever — are allowed on the meadow; everyone else parks in the spaces assigned by the local municipality, following the club's parking plan. Flying only happens by arrangement with the site holder, and every pilot needs a briefing on the permit conditions and site specifics before flying.
