Deutschkreutz

Deutschkreutz is a winch-tow training site in Austria's Burgenland region, sitting low at around 190 m in flat, open wine country. A local flight school runs winch training here, and the tow line can be worked in either direction — southeast or northwest — so instructors can usually find a workable heading for the day rather than waiting on one specific wind. Burgenland is Austria's wine country, and the terrain around Deutschkreutz reflects that: gently rolling, agricultural, and about as far from alpine flying as Austrian paragliding gets. That flatness is exactly the point for a winch site — no ridge or bowl to read, just tow, release and glide, which makes it a practical base for foundation training and currency flights close to Vienna and the Hungarian border. The takeoff area sits northwest of the town itself, on open ground set up for towing rather than a hill launch.
