Pernegg

Pernegg is a small training site in the Lammertal valley, Austria, with a meadow launch above the Pernegg farm. Conditions here need real respect: in south and southwest large-scale wind, a geologically driven easterly current is always present too, and even though thermal activity usually keeps the wind coming from the front, that east wind can push back down into the valley without warning — a genuinely dangerous situation. The best flying conditions are WSW, W and NW; on a stronger NW to N wind the lower part of the Einberg usually flies well, though strong turbulence can build up at ridge level. Landing is on a large meadow beside the Panorama road, where nearby power lines need watching. The local flying school asks pilots to register with them before flying here.
