Roßkogel

Roßkogel is a demanding launch above Kramsach in Austria's Inn valley, taking off from 1,759 m right beside the mountain-station cable car stop on a cliff-like platform that leaves little room for hesitation. The valley wind system here can get genuinely pronounced, building through the day the way Inn-valley thermal winds typically do, and that has direct consequences for the landing: pilots need to be ready for correspondingly strong wind on final approach, or commit to landing earlier rather than pushing into the stronger part of the day. The takeoff itself rewards confidence — a cliff-style launch next to a lift station is not somewhere to hesitate or improvise — and the site as a whole is better suited to pilots who are already comfortable reading a strengthening valley wind than to a first cross-country attempt. The landing field sits at the edge of Kramsach village, giving a clear target once a pilot has judged the wind correctly. Wind from the east is what the launch is built for.
