Schönjoch Startplatz 2

Schönjoch Startplatz 2 is a north-facing launch high in the Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis ski area in Tyrol, Austria, at just under 2,500 m — usable in both summer and winter. The takeoff sits by the reservoir lake, facing out toward Landeck, and it shares the mountain with model-aircraft pilots, so keep an eye out for RC traffic when you're setting up. Landing is next to the mid-station of the Sonnenbahn lift, a straightforward, well-marked field. One access rule pilots should know before they fly Fiss: launching from below the terrace — the older Startplatz 1 — was banned by the lift company, so Startplatz 2 described here is the launch actually in use now for that lower approach. Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis's lift network makes reaching altitude fast, which is part of why the area draws both summer and winter paragliding traffic.
