Where it is
Davos - Jakobshorn launches from Switzerland's Jakobshorn massif above Davos, at up to about 2,500 m, with three takeoffs reached by cable car. The 'Jakobshorn Gipfel' takeoff is right at the summit, three minutes from the peak cable-car station, with a windsock marking conditions at the top; 'Jatzhutte' is an easy ten-minute walk from the cable car and takes south, south-west and west winds; and 'Bramabuel' is reached by chairlift in winter or a roughly 20-minute walk from the Jakobshorn peak in summer. Wind directions from north through north-east, south, south-west, west and north-west are all flyable somewhere on the massif. The main landing, 'Bolgen', sits near the cable-car station - always land where the windsock stands in winter, with a slightly different summer layout. 'Carjol' is a winter-only landing option, the golf-course landing is for hang gliders only, and the lakeside 'Seewiese' landing is permanently closed. The whole airspace around Davos closes during the World Economic Forum at the end of January, and a restricted zone sits at the head of the Sertig valley, so check the current Swiss airspace situation before flying.
