Where it is
Davos - Weissfluhgipfel launches from high above Davos, Switzerland, at up to about 2,800 m, with two very different takeoffs reached via the Parsennbahnen cable car. The 'North' takeoff, five minutes from the gondola station and marked with a windsock, is easy and flyable in both summer and winter; in moderate north winds it even allows dynamic soaring, with a typical route running via the Gotschnagrat ridge down to the landing zone at Klosters. The 'South' takeoff, between the gondola station and the mountain restaurant, is difficult and reserved for experienced pilots only, flying down toward the Davos-Bolgen landing zone. Wind directions from north and south are what the site takes. The entire airspace around Davos closes completely during the World Economic Forum, and Swiss airspace generally is complex, so check the current rules carefully before flying. Landing options include Davos and Klosters, while the lakeside 'Seewiese' landing is permanently closed.
