Bergehalde Ensdorf

Bergehalde Ensdorf launches from a former mining spoil heap in Saarland at about 320 m, facing south. This is not a casual drop-in site: only briefed pilots holding a German B-licence — an intermediate paragliding qualification — are permitted to fly here. Launching is only allowed from the designated spot next to the boundary fence bordering the active mining area, and only once a clear approach corridor at least 20 m wide is confirmed in the southern part of the landing field. The road running along the foot of the heap has to be overflown with at least 50 m of clearance, and landing itself must happen specifically in the southern section of the landing area, not anywhere across it. Between the licence requirement, the fixed launch point and the precise landing zone, it's a site built for pilots who already know how to fly a controlled approach, not one to improvise on.
