Where it is

winchFlatland XC

Eisenberg Windenschlepp is a dual-purpose flying site at about 300 m, offering both a west-facing hill launch and a winch-tow field, flyable across north, east, southeast, west and northwest wind depending on which you use. The hill launch, with about 136 m of height difference facing west, is described as easy and beginner-suitable — the more approachable of the two options. Hang glider pilots towing from the winch use a dedicated launch cart. On hill launches here, watch the wind direction closely: any southerly component brings a real risk of lee turbulence. The site also sits close to Allendorf airfield's radio-mandatory zone, so visiting-pilot radio and airspace rules need to be observed. Guests are welcome, but a briefing is required before your first flight. A genuinely flexible site — beginner-friendly on the hill, with winch options for cross-country days — as long as the wind direction and nearby airfield rules are respected.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Eisenberg Windenschlepp, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch.
