Erden – Borberg

Erden – Borberg is a southeast-facing launch at 290 m above the Mosel village of Erden in Germany, and flying here is restricted to pilots holding an unrestricted German pilot license (B-Schein) — this isn't a site for students. Every pilot needs a briefing from the site manager before their first flight, regardless of experience. In zero-wind conditions, pilots are told to head directly for the landing position and begin the approach immediately rather than delay. Two overflight rules define the site: the L189 road and the village of Erden itself must never be overflown, and the B53 federal road must be crossed with at least 50 m of safety height. Respecting these lines is what keeps this site available to pilots at all — it sits directly above a populated village and a road.
