Pünderich

Pünderich is a south-facing launch above the Moselle river in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, at about 210 m. Flying here comes with clear river-crossing and clearance rules built around the site's geography. Pilots heading toward the landing area need to leave launch early enough to cross the Moselle with sufficient safety altitude, since a late departure risks reaching the river without enough height to spare. A high-voltage power line runs to the west of the site, and a warning sign at launch flags it to every pilot — it needs to be given a proper safety margin, not just noted and forgotten. On the approach to land, the landing pattern itself must not be flown directly over the Moselle, keeping that final approach clear of the river below.
