Where it is

Calmont rises above Bremm on a bend of the Mosel, launching into southeast, south and southwest winds from one of the steepest vineyard slopes in Europe. The launch itself is narrow and very steep, and flying here assumes you can already reverse-launch cleanly — that's non-negotiable, not something to learn on site. Top-landing is banned outright, so every flight needs to head for the proper landing field early, since it sits a fair distance away down the valley. Access on weekends, holidays and long-weekend bridge days is reserved for club members only; on ordinary weekdays, visiting pilots are genuinely welcome. Training flights and hang gliders don't fly here at all. On the way down, the old railway bridge toward Eller is strictly off-limits to overflight, and landings keep well clear of the federal road and the cyclists and walkers along the riverside path. Park only in the designated lots — never along the forest tracks leading up.
