Görauer Anger

Görauer Anger is a paragliding site in Germany at 538 m, launching on north-east wind. It's a well-established local flying hill with a working set of ridge rules: crosswind launches are banned, especially from the north or south-east, and if a pilot isn't climbing they're expected to head straight for the landing field rather than linger on the ridge. Every pilot needs a briefing from the site's operator (or someone delegated by them) before flying here for the first time. Pilot numbers on the ridge are capped to keep things safe — five paragliders when hang gliders are also flying, ten when it's paragliders only — and top-landing is banned outright. The site sees regular winch-tow activity below the ridge launch, and paraglider pilots must not ridge-launch while that's underway. Kiting your wing on the landing field during active flying is also off-limits, so save the ground-handling practice for another time.
