Where it is
Roschlaub/Obstgarten is a small but genuinely flyable site near Bamberg in Bavaria, Germany, with barely 20 m of height difference at launch, flying south and southwest wind — yet some pilots have managed real cross-country flights from here. It comes with real catches: the terrain is tight, a road runs directly below launch, the landing field slopes downhill, and the neighbouring meadow is used by model-aircraft flyers, so mixed operations with them aren't allowed and flying is coordinated by a standing agreement between the two groups. Flying here needs above-average experience — at least the restricted pilot license (A-license) plus a mandatory briefing — and launches only happen with at least 15 km/h of headwind. If height isn't gained right after launch, pilots land immediately below the launch area rather than pushing on. No more than three pilots can be on the slope between Roschlaub and Gammel at once, and the road passing close by needs 50 m clearance, both vertically and to the side.
Launch & conditions
The terrain is tight and relatively flat — if height isn't gained right after launch, land immediately below the launch area rather than pushing toward the main field. A road runs directly below.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Roschlaub/Obstgarten, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Roschlaub/Obstgarten with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
