Hausen Süd

Hausen Süd is a winch and aerotow flatland site in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, launching from 325 m on south to south-west wind — one of three tow lanes run out of Hausen, alongside a west/north lane and an east lane, all sharing the Mainberg landing field at Albanpark. Flying is capped rather than open access here: no more than 35 days a year and 10 pilots at a time, a limit tied to the neighbouring Garstadt bird-protection area, which must never be overflown at low altitude. The shared landing field runs narrow and long, with stretches that cross the wind line rather than follow it, so solid precision-landing technique matters more here than on a typical flatland strip — tandem pilots need the same skill. Guest pilots get a site briefing before their first flight, and the tow line itself passes a roadside sign and a lone tree to its east that the ground crew keeps clear during every tow.

Launch by winch tow only, with constant visual contact between pilot and winch operator — flying is capped at 35 days a year with no more than 10 pilots at once, so check availability first.

Local rules & hazards

The site borders the Garstadt bird-protection area, which must never be overflown at low altitude, and the shared landing field's narrow, partly crosswise strips demand confident precision-landing technique from every pilot, tandem included. The tow line runs past a roadside sign and a lone tree to its east, so the ground crew keeps the rope's path clear and can abort a tow if needed.
