Where it is

Hittenkirchen is a training hill in Bavaria, Germany, at about 650 m, with roughly 40 m of height difference, run in coordination with a local flying school. Flying here only happens by arrangement with that school rather than freely. A wind limit protects pilots on the lower part of the hill: no practice flying is permitted above 20 km/h because of lee-side risk down there, though an exception exists for kiting and ground-handling practice with paragliders on the upper part of the hill, where that risk doesn't apply the same way. The site also carries an ecological rule marked on the site map: certain ecologically valuable wooded areas must not be damaged by foot traffic or vehicles, and if damage happens by accident, it needs to be properly repaired afterward rather than left as-is.

Check conditions before you fly

A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Hittenkirchen, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Hittenkirchen with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
