Where it is
Lindewerrablick is a launch above the Werra valley in Thuringia, at about 238 m facing south to southeast, reached only on foot via a marked track from the village of Lindewerra or from a hikers' car park near Bornhagen — cars stay in public parking areas. Every pilot needs a briefing from the site operator before their first flight here, and flying in easterly wind is discouraged, since a ridge lying east and southeast of the launch generates turbulence in that direction. Tandem flights need at least a 10 km/h headwind. The area sits on protected heathland, so the launch and inflation zones are kept clear of obstructing vegetation and managed in step with nature-conservation requirements agreed with the landowner and local authority, and launches only happen when the field is free of grazing animals. Landing approaches have to keep a real distance and height from the Werra river itself. Wildlife protection carries through into the air too: overflying any known nesting sites during flight operations is not permitted, in line with legal protections for wild birds and other strictly protected species.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Lindewerrablick, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Lindewerrablick with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
