Where it is
Lüdingen is a flatland winch-tow site near Bremen with a genuine thermal connection and real cross-country potential, flyable in wind from almost any direction. Towing happens here regularly. The Bremen control zone sits just to the west, so airspace awareness matters even on a flatland site like this one. The main local rule protects the Großes Weißes Moor nature area: it can't be overflown at all between 1 April and 15 July, and outside that window any overflight needs at least 250 m of clearance from the ground. Cranes are the other thing to watch for — if the birds are seen on the launch or landing areas before flying starts, operations don't begin, and if they're spotted once flying is already underway, it stops immediately. A genuinely useful cross-country flatland, built around real, dated protections for the moor and its cranes rather than generic caution.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Lüdingen, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Lüdingen with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
