Mehring

Mehring launches from a wide wooden ramp at 400 m in Germany, flyable in north, northeast and northwest wind. The ramp was rebuilt in 2008, which noticeably improved the launch and widened the flight corridor through the trees, but a few things still need respect: launch only from the ramp itself, never lay out on the nearby motorway embankment, and the glide to the landing field is fairly long, so leave early enough to reach it comfortably. The Mehring landing field sits about 1,200 meters from launch, is small, and gets turbulent over the meadow fairly often — plan your approach with a margin rather than cutting it fine. The site currently isn't recommended for hang gliders; the local club is actively looking for a better alternative for that discipline.
