Osterbuchberg

Osterbuchberg is a training area in Bavaria, Germany, at about 610 m, favorable with wind from the southeast, south or southwest. It's a strongly seasonal site: all flying and instruction here is closed from 1 January through 31 August each year to protect a meadow-breeding bird habitat, which means the flyable window runs only from 1 September to 31 December. Even within that window, flying is limited to the area of mown meadow, entering the breeding-bird habitat itself is forbidden, and pilots are expected to keep as much distance as practical from that habitat to the south. This combination of a long closed season and a tightly bounded flying area makes Osterbuchberg a site to plan a visit around carefully rather than fly on a whim.
