Where it is
Röttersdorf is a flatland tow site in Germany at 640 m, with launches facing east or west. Several overflight rules define the site: the village of Röttersdorf itself may only be overflown at a minimum of 300 m above ground, the road on the western edge of the site must not be overflown at all, and the roads to the south and north need more than 50 m of vertical clearance and at least 50 m of lateral distance. Towing is not permitted when the wind comes from the north — the concern is a rope break sending the tow line drifting toward the southern road, so the site simply doesn't tow in that direction.
Launch & conditions
E/W-facing flatland tow launches; towing does not happen in northerly wind, to keep a broken tow rope from drifting toward the southern road.
Local rules & hazards
Overflying the village of Röttersdorf requires a minimum of 300 m AGL. The western road must not be overflown at all; the southern and northern roads need over 50 m vertical and at least 50 m lateral clearance.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Röttersdorf, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Röttersdorf with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
