Sasbachwalden – Schloßberg

Sasbachwalden's Schloßberg launch is a narrow corridor cut into the forest with a genuinely good view down into the Rhine valley, and it's built for pilots who already carry some flying time — experienced A-licence holders may use it after a briefing, otherwise you'll need a B-licence. West wind is the only wind that works here, and even then it's capped at a gentle 10 km/h before turbulence risk shuts things down; the landing field asks for real attention too and gets its own separate briefing. Students training here need 15 logged height flights from another site first, and an experienced instructor keeps radio contact with anyone in training because the field sits close to the village centre. Hang gliders don't fly this site; tandem flights run only with authorised, experienced pilots. Driving to launch isn't allowed — park at Brandmatt or come by public transport — and flying is capped to the hours between 9 a.m. and an hour before sunset.
