Where it is
Sonnenhang is an east-facing ridge in a former ski clearing, at about 760 m, and it only really works in that easterly wind — crosswind isn't flown here at all, and wind that strays from due east needs extra care because of mountains positioned in front of the site. Groundhandling isn't allowed at all: pilots gather up the wing and clear the meadow immediately after landing, packing it at the edge of the path instead. Guests reach the launch on foot or carpool with a club member, and any vehicle used to drop pilots off has to head straight back to the landing field afterward. Hang glider pilots need a briefing from a person the club has designated before they can launch, and they use a separate landing field elsewhere rather than sharing this one. Because the landing field itself is a tricky target, paraglider A-license training only runs in calm wind or conditions genuinely matched to the student's skill level, and this site isn't approved for hang glider training at all. Existing hedges, tree rows and fruit trees around the site are protected and must not be disturbed by flying, and any damage flight operations cause to paths gets repaired right away.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Sonnenhang, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Sonnenhang with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
