Übungshang Dobel

Übungshang Dobel is a small practice slope in the Black Forest, built for exactly what its name says: training, not proper cross-country flying. With just about 20 m of height difference and a flight path of roughly 120 m, it's a genuine beginner's training hill, facing southeast through south to southwest. Access depends entirely on the goodwill of the farmers who manage the meadow, and if livestock is grazing on neighboring land, flying simply doesn't happen that day — arrangements need to be made with the animal owner ahead of time. The grass itself is protected too: once it grows past about 20 cm, the slope is off-limits until it's cut, and in spring before the first mowing it can only be used in dry weather, with care taken not to tear up the turf. Use is capped at 100 practice-days per year across all pilots.
