Uedem

Uedem is a winch-tow site at just 33 m in Germany, flown on north and south winds, used by both hang gliders and paragliders. It has a genuinely good thermal connection and real cross-country potential despite the low altitude — this isn't just a training bunny-hop field. Flying happens mainly on weekends and public holidays with flyable weather, and less often on weekdays; winch operators are present for hang gliders and usually for paragliders too. Guest pilots are welcome but should make contact in advance rather than just showing up, and there's a €10 tow fee for guests. Because operating days are somewhat limited to weekends, holidays and the occasional weekday, it's worth checking ahead before planning a trip specifically around this site.
