Entscharn

Entscharn is a training site near the Wildkogel in Salzburg's Pinzgau region, run as part of the local flight school's teaching ground — and one of the few Alpine launches you can drive to rather than ride a cable car up. The slope sits in Bramberg and offers only limited scope for cross-country flying; it's built for learning rather than distance. What makes it useful beyond basic lessons is its orientation: in light to moderate north winds aloft, the launch and landing sit sheltered in the lee, which turns an otherwise blown-out day into a workable training window. It's a modest, low-key site rather than a marquee destination, but that's exactly its role — a dependable, easy-access spot for students to log hours close to a well-known bigger mountain nearby.

Reachable by car rather than cable car. Best used in light to moderate north wind aloft, when launch and landing sit sheltered in the lee.

Getting there & local rules

In Bramberg, head from the village square towards the church, pass the elementary school, then follow the mountain road to Entscharn. There is no parking at launch.
