Where it is
Hohe Salve is a grassy peak above Söll and Hopfgarten in Tyrol's Kitzbühel Alps, reached by cable car from either village, with all of its launches clustered near the 1,763 m summit and a steep south-facing take-off on the south side of the chapel there. The site catches thermals early in the season and flies on southeast and south winds. Landing is strictly limited to the new official field about 500 m from the Söll valley station and roughly 80 m west of the lowest car park, marked by a clearly visible wind sock — pilots are told to watch for a nearby power line on the approach, especially in a strong valley wind, and to keep an eye out for tractor traffic on the ground. Landing must stay south of (above) the access path; landing below the path, or on any unmown meadow in the open terrain, carries a €20 outlanding fee. The private road up to the landing field is closed to driving and parking — pilots park only in the marked cable-car car parks.
