Where it is
Jägerkamp/Nagelspitz is a hike-and-fly launch above Schliersee in Bavaria, reached by roughly 750 vertical metres (about 4 km) of walking up from the large landing field at Neuhaus. The launch sits about 150 m below the Jägerkamp summit, on open alpine pasture, so pilots share the ground with grazing cattle and must keep gates closed on the way up. A small launch fee applies, payable by QR code at the site. As hike-and-fly traffic has grown, the operating club asks pilots to keep a light footprint: no camping or littering at launch, no groundhandling on the landing field, and cows should be given a wide berth on landing. Parking is restricted to a signed area away from a nearby inn, and cars should not use the forestry track above the Spitzingstraße. The one hazard worth knowing before you climb: an unmarked avalanche-control cable, strung up to 35 m above ground, runs about 1.7 km between the Jägerkamp and the pass road toward Spitzingsee and is hard to spot from the air.
Local rules & hazards
Launch sits on active alpine pasture, so gates must be kept closed and cattle given a wide berth on both ascent and landing; groundhandling is not permitted on the landing field, and parking is restricted away from the nearby inn and forestry track. Pilots should check the exact position of an unmarked, hard-to-see avalanche-control cable strung up to 35 m above ground about 1.7 km between the Jägerkamp and the pass road toward Spitzingsee before launching, and keep well clear of it.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Jägerkamp/Nagelspitz, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Jägerkamp/Nagelspitz with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
