Wank Startplatz Rosswank

Rosswank is a launch on the Wank above Garmisch-Partenkirchen, reached by the Wankbahn cable car, with the mountain's usual excellent spring thermals and a striking view of the Zugspitze. Launch times here are deliberately restricted: from 1 November to 15 May, during the winter and mating season, flying is only allowed between 10:00 and 18:00, and from 1 June to 30 November only within the two hours after sunrise and the two hours before sunset. Paragliding students aren't permitted to launch here until they already have at least ten height flights at another site — this isn't a training venue. Pilots need to watch for hospital rescue helicopter flights passing roughly 3 km away, set up wind indicators before launching, and keep first-aid gear on site. Trans-regional wind needs particular respect here, since it brings real lee-side risk.
