Alpspitze Grüner Strich is a north-facing launch above the Alpspitzbahn valley station in the Allgäu, at about 1,520 m, reached via a forest clearing that makes it sensitive to any west wind (rated medium difficulty). Flying is only permitted here in wind from north and northeast, and visible wind indicators are required at both the mid-station and the launch itself — conditions have to guarantee a safe glide to the landing field. Before launching, pilots need to know exactly where the cables of a nearby zipline run and keep at least 50 m clearance from them in the air. The main landing field sits east of the valley station near an access road and a high-voltage line, so approaches must stay well clear of the power line and altitude is lost on the mountain side of it, never crossing it. A ski-slope offers an emergency landing option if needed. Good thermal triggers form to the east above a local sports lodge and along a nearby ravine, with further options over a hilltop chapel and an eastern peak in northeasterly conditions. Guests are welcome; altitude training flights are not permitted here.
