Where it is
Mutta is a launch above Galtür in Austria's Silvretta region, at 2,174 m, with southwest and west-facing takeoffs. Access up to the launch runs along forest roads, and driving your own vehicle there is only permitted for authorized parties — a local flight school holds a special exemption to use the road, but general private access without consent isn't allowed. The practical way up for most pilots is the shuttle service the flight school runs to the launches; register with them ahead of your visit rather than trying to drive up on your own. The landing meadow sits just before the village of Tschafein.
Launch & conditions
SW/W-facing launch reached via forest roads; private-vehicle access is restricted to authorized parties, so most pilots use the flight school's shuttle service.
Getting there & local rules
Register with the local flight school for shuttle access to the launch — general private driving up without authorization isn't permitted. The landing meadow lies just before the village of Tschafein.
Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Mutta, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Mutta with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
