Where it is
A grassy cliff-edge site on the east coast, about 75 km south of Melbourne, generally flown in October and November when the easterlies are running. It is a demanding place: the cliff take-off is difficult and there is often major turbulence low on the cliffs. In very light conditions it can appear soarable while some form of thermal block destroys the lift below cliff level. In good conditions, though, excellent height can be achieved, and the run north to Shoreham is an exciting flight — getting all the way back is very difficult and needs a touch of north in the wind. The site can be beautifully smooth when it is blowing 14 to 18 knots straight in, but more near-serious accidents have happened here than at possibly any other site in Victoria.

Take-off is from the grassy cliff edge and is very tricky for paragliders. The boats anchored by the pier in front of the site are a good indicator of wind direction.
Getting there & local rules
The site is at Flinders township on the east coast, about 75 km south of Melbourne. There is a wide beach to the right for landings and plenty of lawn beside the car park there to pack up on.
Local rules & hazards
Do not, under any circumstances, fly in close to the cliff after take-off if you are below the top of the cliff. The site works in an easterly and gets wild once it blows up to 20 knots — watch for wind lines and white caps approaching, and get out of the air if they appear to be moving in. Beach landings are the safer option but can still be tricky, as the beach is narrow with turbulence at the base of the near-vertical cliff. Landing in the vacant land down the road at the north end of the ridge should only be attempted after discussing the hazards with a local pilot.
