Where it is

winchFlatland XC

Altenbeuthen–Bille is a flat-land tow site in Germany, launching from 485 m and, like a lot of farmland flying sites, built around the rhythm of the growing season rather than being open year-round. Launch and landing areas only come into use once the fields have been harvested, or once the vegetation is short enough that flying over it doesn't create a hazard — which means the flyable window here shifts with the local harvest, not the calendar. Before towing starts on any given day, the access paths onto the site have to be secured against unauthorized entry and driving, a housekeeping step that keeps casual traffic off an active tow line. Winch-tow training specifically for hang gliders isn't permitted here, though the field still supports general tow flying for current pilots. Wind from the southeast or northwest suits the field's tow directions.

Local rules & hazards

Launch and landing areas may only be used once fields are harvested or vegetation is short enough for safe flying, and access paths must be secured against unauthorized entry before towing begins. Hang-glider winch-tow training is not permitted.
