Boxberg – Grodweg

Boxberg–Grodweg is a flatland winch-tow site in northern Baden-Württemberg, best in northeast wind, and run with a tight set of local rules that keep it on good terms with farmers and neighbors. Drivers reach the site only from the Boxberg side, and flying is limited to a daily window of three hours after sunrise and three hours before sunset — farm traffic and the nearby building-protection area always have right of way. The field hedges running along the Grodweg are a specially protected habitat under German conservation law, so flight operations have to stay clear of them. Every pilot gets briefed by the site holder before flying, including on the circuit pattern used by the nearby village of Unterschüpf, which should be given a wide berth. Mobile tow runs are confined to a marked stretch between two fixed points.
