Bürgstadt / Wannenberg

Bürgstadt / Wannenberg is a west-facing launch on the Bavarian–Baden-Württemberg border near Miltenberg, currently limited to paragliders on a trial basis — and only for pilots the local club has specifically selected and who hold at least a B-license (Germany's intermediate paragliding rating). The ramp launch itself is genuinely demanding and requires a briefing before your first attempt; the site holder is responsible for making sure only pilots with sufficient flight experience launch here, and that briefing has to come from the designated airspace supervisor or someone appointed by them. Conditions turn turbulent in north and west wind, so approach with that in mind. Down at the landing field, pack up your gear at the wayside shrine (Bildstock), and when it comes to parking, leave the farm track clear — vehicles park on the edge of the bike path opposite instead.
