Where it is
Feilbingert is a southeast-facing launch at 307 m above the Nahe valley's vineyards, and every guest pilot has to be briefed by the site operator and show proof of their flying experience before a first flight. Launches only happen when the wind allows a genuinely safe take-off with enough clearance from the vineyards right next to the launch — any stronger crosswind or turbulent air rules out flying for the day. Minimum safety heights over buildings, roads and power lines apply for the whole flight, in line with German air-traffic law. Tandem flights are allowed only when the vegetation on the landing field and surrounding land, together with the wind, genuinely permits a safe launch, approach and landing — that call is left to the tandem pilot's judgement. Circuit patterns and landing approaches are set by the site operator, not left to individual pilots. Flying here also means avoiding anything that could disturb the vineyard work below, and the fruit trees on the neighbouring plot must not be affected by flight operations either.

Check conditions before you fly
A forecast for the valley is not a forecast for the launch. Before heading to Feilbingert, read the wind and thermals for the site itself, confirm the day's rules with the local club, and remember the standing rule — when in doubt, don't launch. In the free OutDare app you can open Feilbingert with a 7-day forecast built from high-resolution weather models, see who else has been flying, and get there with offline maps.
