Where it is
Geba – Seeba Süd is the south-facing launch of the Gebaflieger club on the Geba, in the Rhön biosphere reserve near Träbes, at 535 m, flown on south wind. The ridge edge here punches well above its size for lift — locals rate it as surprisingly strong thermal terrain for a modest-looking slope. The whole hillside carries real ecological weight: it sits inside a protected biosphere reserve, and in spring the ground turns purple with the pasque flower, a protected wildflower, which is exactly why the reserve area itself is off-limits to foot traffic even though flying continues around it. Waste has to leave with you, and the dry grassland habitats right around launch and landing need to stay undisturbed. Top-landing back near launch is only allowed in calm, turbulence-free conditions, and the club posts its own specific top-landing rules on a board at the site — worth reading before you try one. Info on visiting and the guest fee comes from the club directly.
